~~Keep Calm and carry a cool crochet bag!~~

“Keep Calm and Carry On” is a little saying we see a lot and is always good advice. Now, with this crochet project you can keep calm and carry a cool crochet bag!

I’ve been thinking of designing this bag for quite a while and wanted the design to be a simple and easy-to-make project. My Keep Calm Bag is crocheted and lined in a flat piece before attaching it to the bamboo handles. And no worries, only basic sewing by hand skills are required. I provide step by step instructions to crochet, line and assemble the bag. Once your bag is finished you can add a yarn or bead tassel to one of the handles if you wish to add a little extra pop. I recommend using a sturdy cotton or cotton/linen blend yarn that does not stretch. I used one skein of Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend for my bag, a matching Aunt Lydia’s size 10 cotton crochet thread for my stitching, and a pair of six inch round bamboo handles all bought from www.joann.com. The pretty Comfy Cotton Blend color I used for my bag is “Chai Latte”.

The Keep Calm Bag is a small handbag that can easily hold a wallet, cell phone, keys, and several other items, and it is easily customized for a wider and deeper bag. And best of all this is an economical and quick project, and makes the perfect crocheted gift for a loved one.

Skills required: chain, sc, dc, basic hand sewing skills

A tassel with or without beads is optional. Instructions are included for the following:
Option 1: Plain yarn tassel to tie on
Option 2: Plain yarn tassel with beads on the tie ends to tie on
Option 3 for experienced beaders: Fancy yarn tassel as shown with beads and a charm.
