This is an easy baby blanket. It is first knit flat as a square from corner to corner, and it is possible to stop here for a very easy baby blanket. After the square is knit, the lace border is added by knitting in the round.

If using the recommended yarn weight and gauge, estimate 250 g yarn for an 80 x 80 cm blanket, and 350 g yarn for a 95 x 95 cm blanket.
This blanket can be knit in any yarn, at any gauge, and with any needle size. Changes in yarn and needle size might affect the size of the blanket and the amount of yarn required.

If using different yarn weight, choose a needle size that gives a loose and squishy fabric. For example: the Baby Panda from Rauma has a recommended needle size of 2 – 3.5 mm (US 0 – 4), and for this project, the largest needle size was chosen.

The pattern gives instructions for two similar lace borders. Both are written, not charted.
