Kelp Shawlette
This frilly, silky top-down triangular shawlette was inspired by the long ribbons of kelp that wash up on the shore around this time of year.
The strong, simple texture of the main pattern is easily memorised and makes an ideal travel project; perfect if you’re going to the beach this year. And it’s saved from being dull or predictable by a heavily rippled fringe that can be as restrained – or as wild – as you like!
The example in the picture is knitted in DK cotton, about 200g in weight, over three days. You can knit any size using this pattern, from the small size in this example, which tucks comfortably into the neck of a jacket, up to a full-scale shawl.
It would also look beautiful in a delicate fingering-weight wool yarn as a romantic winter or autumn shawlette.
Pattern is charted and written.
