Combining two very fun techniques, brioche and fading colors (aka ombré effect), this fun-to-wear triangular shape is worked from point to point with simple increases up the middle spine and decreases on the outer edges. I used a set of six gorgeous blues that remind me of one of my favorite places on earth, the beautiful Kenai Lake in my home state of Alaska. The turquoise shade of the water grows darker as it gets deeper, and I played with a lovely fade of those colors in this design. As far as color options are concerned, the sky’s the limit. You could choose a simple pairing of two colors, one for the front side and one for the back. You could choose a set of fading colors for the front and a contrast color for the back. Or how about two sets of different fades, one for each side? Anything goes!

Notes
+ This shawl is worked back and forth starting at the narrow end, working increases in the middle of rows and decreases along the edges until you reach the widest part of the shawl. At that point, half of the stitches are bound off and the remaining half are worked with decreases along both edges until all stitches are decreased.
