Kenai Skyline Shawl

Pattern available for free on my blog.
Kenai (pronounced Key nigh) is a city in Alaska, USA located on the Kenai Peninsula next to the Kenai river! The river is a deep rich turquoise color that is absolutely eye-catching. If you’ve ever seen a picture of it, you’d agree that it’s just stunning!
The colors of this scarf are inspired by the colors of this river at sunset or sunrise.
This shawl is composed of simple garter stitch, a section of the hurdle stitch (the river if you will), and a lacework pattern meant to represent the rays of the sun as it slowly sinks past the horizon. The lacework I came up with myself specifically for this pattern. I hope you like it as much as I do!
I used Knit Picks Gloss DK, which is a 70% Merino wool, 30% Silk blend.
Alternative yarns are Bernat Softee Baby, a close match to gauge and drape, Caron Simply Soft as it has the light shine to it that Gloss does, but the gauge is a bit different.
If you decide to use a substitute yarn, make sure you gauge swatch to make sure you’ll get the results you want.
640 yards (246 yards C1, 234 yards C2, and 160 yards C3). I used Navy, Masala, and Kenai for my colors.
