The “KENDELL” hat - perfect for windy days!
This fun pixie hat is knit in the round in simple stockinette. The kite’s tail wraps around to become a fanciful topper. The clouds are done using simple crochet stitches. The kite is knit separately and sewn on later.
THE BASICS
• Pattern includes 6 sizes: Newborn / 3-6 months / 6-12 months / Toddler / Child / Adult
• Pattern is written in ENGLISH and uses standard U.S. knitting terms
• Instructions are for knitting in the round on circular and double pointed needles
• Gauge: 20 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)
• Knitting skill level - INTERMEDIATE
• Clouds are done in crochet
SKILLS YOU’LL NEED
• Knitting in the round
• Basic increases and decreases
• Basic crochet stitches (chain, slip, single crochet, double crochet)
SUPPLIES YOU’LL NEED
• Approx. 80 - 180 yds (73 - 165 m) DK or light-worsted weight yarn for hat depending on size made
• Approx. 10 yds (9 m) sport weight yarn for kite
• Several yds (m) DK or light-worsted weight yarn for clouds
• Approx. 5 yds (4 m) DK or light-worsted weight yarn for kite tail and tassel
• U.S. size 6 (4 mm) 12” or 16” circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• Set of U.S. size 6 (4 mm) double pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• U.S. size 2 (2.75 mm) straight needles
• U.S. size E (3.5 mm) crochet hook
• Stitch marker
• Yarn needle
