Kennecott is a lightweight, textured toque. The hat is named after the incredible Kennecott copper mining camp, a National Historic Landmark within Wrangell- St. Elias National Park and Preserve (Alaska).

Sizing
I provide instructions for 3 finished circumferences: 14.5”/37cm (16”/40.5cm) (17.5”/44.5cm). This hat is extremely stretchy, so I recommend knitting the size that gives about 5-7 inches (13-18 cm) of negative ease relative to your head circumference. Finished height is fully adjustable, though I give directions for a tigher version (7.5”/19cm tall) and for a slouchier version (9.5”/24cm tall).

Kennecott - qiviut version
The Kennecott pattern now (2021) also includes a second pdf, a modified version of the original Kennecott pattern that is reworked to be knit with lace-weight qiviut. Qiviut (kiv-ee-ute) yarn is spun from the soft underfur of the muskox. The knit texture is the same as the original Kennecott but the stitch counts and sizing has been reworked to be more suitable to use with qiviut yarn. See below for more sizing info for the qiviut version of the pattern.

Gauge: 34 sts & 40 rows over 4”/10 cm in pattern
