Kentucky Cabin Socks
The Kentucky Cabin Socks are a fun, fast, and completely gift worthy pattern. These socks are worked cuff down with fingering weight and mohair held double to create a DK weight yarn, that knits up insanely fast. (If you are knitting for someone with sensitivities you could easily substitute suri for the mohair) These socks have the option for corrugated or 1X1 ribbing around the foot, giving the socks a secure fit. As knitters, most of us have a huge appreciation for hand knit socks. These socks bridge the gap between woolly socks that wear like iron, and the cozy cabin socks everyone seems to gift for Christmas.
Size:
S= Womens S/M
M= Womens M/L
L= Mens
Gauge: 26 stitches over 4 inches. The row count is not as important but is approximately 34 rows over 4 inches.
These socks were knit out of Nomadic Yarns, Tweedy Sock in Slughorns Christmas Party, and Émilia & Philomene, Leona in Brooklyn. You could use any Fingering Weight/Lace weight combo though. I recommend merino or suri for the lace weight yarn, and a wool/nylon blend for the fingering weight yarn. You can also add a contrasting color of fingering weight yarn if you would like contrasting heels, toes, and cuffs.
You will need about 300 (325, 350) yards of each yarn. if you decide to use a contrast color, 20g of fingering weight will work.
