Kerrville Honeycomb Doily
The Kerrville Honeycomb Doily is worked in the round, starting with a central hexagon shape, and adding rounds of webbed or open hexies. Two border options are included. The pattern may remind you of the quilt motif called Grandmother’s Flower Garden.
You can make the doily larger by repeating webbed and open hexie rounds, as noted in the instructions.
I recommend a firm gauge, but do not offer a specifc gauge measurement. I recommend hook sizes.
The sample doilies have been made with No. 10 crochet cotton, No. 5 crochet cotton, and sock-weight yarn. If you haven’t tried making doilies with sock or fingering weight yarn, I hope you will consider it! It’s a lot easier on your hands and eyes, and it blocks out beautifully.
With one ball of No. 10 crochet cotton or one hank of sock yarn, you can probably make two basic Kerrville Honeycomb doilies, or you can make one larger doily. It’s up to you how many extra rounds you add.
