Kettle Valley Poncho
The Kettle Valley Poncho is a comfortable light swancho that also includes a pattern for a sleeveless version poncho.
This top is created to fit all sizes and is great to throw over a t-shirt and pair of leggings or jeans. The linen content means the more you wear it the softer it gets and the softer it gets the more you will want to wear it. It is constructed in such a way that it is relaxed across your shoulders and chest and there is lots of room and drape at the bottom hem. This knit has enough going on to keep interest but is easy enough to take with you. The stripes softly melt into each other with a hint of texture. It creates a beautiful finished piece that will become a staple in your wardrobe.
Things you will need:
4mm (6 US) circular needles with at least 40inch cable (or size required to obtain gauge)
3mm (2.5 US) circular needles with at least 40inch cable (for ribbing)
Scissors
Tapestry needle to weave in the ends
Four stitch markers
Yarn
Five 100 gram skeins of heavy fingering/ light dk weight yarn:
Option 1: Five Colour Stripe
Five complimentary skeins of yarn with at least 350 metres (380 yards)
For sample I used Manos Del Uruguay Milo, 65% merino, 35% linen 350 metres (380 yards) per skein. Colours used Amatista (for ribbing and contrast rows), Natural, Boreal, Sara Kay and Jade.
Option 2: Solid Colour
Five skeins of the same colour heavy fingering/ light dk weight yarn 1737.36 metres (1900 yards).
For solid sample I used Berroco Remix Light 30% nylon, 27% cotton, 24% acrylic, 10% silk, 9% linen 400 metres (432 yards) per skein. Colour used 6930.
Option 3: Two Colour Stripe
Four skeins of main colour, one skein of contrasting colour for contrast rows, ribbing and cuffs.
Option 4: Poncho with no sleeves
Your skeins need to be at least 350 metres (380 yards) each, this pattern is written to use as much of the yarn as possible so gauge and yardage are very important.
If you would like to add length in the sleeves or to the body make sure you purchase an extra Skein in the colour you choose for the ribbing.

In stockinette blocked gauge: 4 inches/10cm = 24 stitches x 34 rows
