Daenerys Targaryen is my favorite character in Game of Thrones, both in the books and on the show! She is beautiful, of course, but also incredibly tough, resourceful, intelligent, and witty. Plus, there’s the whole dragon thing. Who wouldn’t want to be Daenerys? One of my favorite outfits she wears is the blue dress/coat in the scene where she buys the Unsullied, among others (see a picture here).

Of course, such a dress is completely incompatible with day-to-day modern life. Deborah Norville Serenity Garden yarn in the color Twilight immediately reminded me of the blues Daenerys favors, along with the brown and black she often wears as a Khaleesi. So naturally I had to use this yarn to make my own version of that blue dress: a wide, upside-down teardrop neckline; barely-there sleeves; a lace back to mimic the cutout on the actual costume; and small panels of flowing lace at the sides to imitate the asymmetrical hemline. This tank drips with Dany flair, yet is very wearable in our more modern day. From a cover-up at the beach to a night on the town to a day at the mall, dress this top up or down to feel like a modern khaleesi. Horse, dragons, and Khal Drogo are sadly not included.

This pattern was designed to work with microfiber--the drape and line of the garment will change slightly if another type of yarn is used. However, other types of yarn that should work well are cotton blends and wool/silk blends.

It is an intermediate level pattern: you should know how to seam, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, and understand basic garment construction.

XS (S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X)
Chest: 27 (31, 35, 39, 43, 47, 51) inches
Length: 24 (25.5, 27, 28.5, 30, 31.5, 33) inches

Sizes 4X can also make this top, as it is suggested you make one size smaller than you normally wear.
