Kida socks
Socks are worked toe-up. They start with Judy’s Magic Cast on, then increases for the toe.
The heel is worked as a combination of short-row heel with gusset increases (and then decreases) to create extra room on the instep.
These socks are worked in Magic Loop technique with the beginning of the round at the middle of the sole and then at the back of the leg.
Each special technique is illustrated with a video.
Skill level
Intermediate. Judy’s Magic Cast on, knit and purl stitches, increases, decreases, color work, short rows, Long tail Bind off.
Sizes
US women’s shoe size 4-5 (6; 7) (8-9; 10; 11-12)
EUR women’s shoe size 34-35 (36-37; 38) (39-40; 41; 42-43)
Yarns
Socks are designed for fingering weight sock yarn.
You need 60 (80; 90) (120; 150; 170) meters / 66 (88; 100) (132; 165; 186) yards of yarn color A and 150 (165; 180) (210; 220; 240) meters / 165 (182; 200) (230; 245; 265) yards of yarn color B.
Needles
2.5 mm / US 1½ for Color work and 2 mm / US 0 for Stockinette stitch.
Tools
Stitch markers, cable needle, double point needles, darning needle for bind off.
