Kien Fora
Kien Fora is a top down open front raglan cardigan,
with a subtle textural brioche insertion in the back.
Long sleeves and contrast lined pockets make it versatile and more fun.
Worked in one piece from the neck edge to the armholes, then the sleeve stitches are set aside for the sleeves to be worked in the round later. The cuff can be folded up to reveal the reversible (and here more colorful) side of the brioche stitch.
The neck facing is picked up at the end and worked in Brioche stitch, for a smooth finish.
The name is derived from an old germanic word for a type of mountain conifer in the Pinaceae family, Kiefer Föhre.
The way the pattern subtly peaks through rather reminds me of pine boughs, of fine spring green and soft needles.
