If you have a male dog you also need the measurement from behind the front leg to the genitals. You will need to cast off about 5 cm before this to enable your dog to wee without wetting the sweater (same for all sizes).

CONSTRUCTION
The sweater is worked top down, from the neck to the tail.

Before you start knitting this sweater for your dog, it is important that you take a few measurements of the dog. Dog sizes are distinguished
by weight, and two dogs that are defined as being the same size could therefore have very
different body shape. The sizes are a guide, unless you have the same breed of dog as the sizes have been written for. Even if that is the case, it would still be a good idea to take some measurements, as there can be large individual differences within the breed. The schematics show which measurements you should take. I also recommend trying the sweater on the dog while you knit, giving you the possibility to customize it as you go.
