♫ The Music ♫
The Kilgary Mountain is a traditional Irish tune that tells the story of a highwayman from the southern mountains of Ireland. With a chorus that chimes: “Musha rig um du rum da, Whack fol the daddy o, Whack fol the daddy o, There’s whiskey in the jar” ~ a sing-a-long winner to be sure!

The Kilgary Mittens feature an offset four rope cable which grows from the cuff ribbing. The cable is featured on the back of each mitten while the palm and thumb are worked in Stockinette stitch.

Pattern is charted with written directions for the charts provided in a separate PDF. Each mitten and size has its own chart. Written directions for charts are provided in side-by-side columns for each size for those knitters who like to work 2@-a-Time.

The Kilgary Hat pattern matches these mittens.

Construction Notes
The mittens are knit in the round, from the cuff upward, beginning with an Estonian Cast On. Increases are worked to form the thumb gusset. Thumb stitches are then placed on waste yarn while the upper portion of the mitten is worked. The mitten top is bound off using a modified Zigzag bind off. Stitches are picked up at the gap above the thumb gusset and are worked along with the held stitches to create the thumb.
