Kilkelly is a modern ballad chronicling letters an Irish father sent to his son who had immigrated to America in the mid-1800s. The letters share everyday happenings and are filled with the family’s desire to have their boy home once more:
“They say that you might even come for a visit,
What a joy to see you again.”
The perfect inspiration for our 2018 Holiday sock!

Beginning with a French toe, the instep cable pattern grows from the centre of the instep in a V shape. The single-stitch cable design is worked on the instep and continues on the front and back leg; the sole is worked in Stockinette stitch. Tiny Garter columns travel up the side of each sock, echoing the Garter filler stitch in the cable pattern. The double-bar gusset leads into a short-row heel cap (no picking up stitches!) and the heel is worked in a traditional slip-stitch pattern. To accommodate the pattern stitch, the ribbing height varies between sizes.
