About:
The Killarone Shawl is named after the city of Killarone, in County Galway, Ireland, which has the beautiful Aughnanure Castle.

The shape of the lace in the shawl reminds me of the curved doorway and the stockinette broken by eyelets is reminiscent of the windows that break up the stone face of the main tower of this striking castle.

This two-skein, crescent-shaped shawl—with both written and charted directions—is easy enough for an adventurous beginner knitter but engaging enough for an advanced one. Filled with stockinette, lace, eyelets, and a garter border. This timeless design is very wearable either around the shoulders traditionally or worn around the neck like a scarf.

Needle: US 6 (4.0 mm), 40” (100 cm) circular needle or needles needed to get gauge

Suggested Yarn: Anåda Yarns, Älv, Fingering Weight, 2 skeins 70% Merino/20% Alpaca/10% Silk; 437 yds (400 m)/100 g or any fingering weight yarn of your choosing

Sample uses: Rainstorm colorway, approx. 825 yards (755 m) Gauge: 19 sts/32 rows = 4” (10 cm) square in Lace Section pattern using US 6 (4.0 mm) needles or whatever size needle gives you the fabric you would like.

Other Notions: 2 stitch markers for edges, 72 stitch markers for lace (optional but suggested for ease), darning needle
