Inspired by woven tartan cloth and diced hose, the plaid kilt hose are a modern knitted interpretation of these woven motifs. Hidden calf shaping ensures that the 12” tall leg fits perfectly, while the surprisingly stretchy plaid adds warmth. Worked from the cuff down, the length of the foot of the stocking is adjustable up to a women’s size 11.

Adorned with stately textured cables, these cabled kilt hose are versatile enough for lounging at home or a trip to the Highland Games. The optional cabled cuff adds traditional elegance. Knit from the toes up, these unisex stockings are completely knit-to-fit. There is enough yarn to fit up to a man’s size 12 foot and there are two calf shaping options, so this pattern will fit almost any foot.

Kit includes three 100 gram hanks of Bare Superwash Merino Wool Nylon Fingering Weight and one 50 gram ball each of Stroll Sock in Midnight Heather, Firecracker Heather, and Forest Heather along with pattern instructions for stockings. You will need US 1 (2.5 mm) 32” or longer circulars, plus DPNs or spare needles, US 1 (2.25 mm) 32” or longer circulars, yarn needle, stitch markers and a cable needle.
