Kimalainen sweater has glittering bobbles around the collar. Bobbles are added also to the hem and cuffs. Kimalainen is a short sweater suitable for using with skirts or layering with dresses. The shape of the sweater is simple and it is mostly knitted in stockinette.

Kimalainen is knitted top down starting from collar. The increases of the yoke are done evenly. Short rows are added before underarm to give length to back. You can easily try the sweater on while knitting to make sure it fits you well. Glittering bobbles are knitted in intarsia so there will be no long floats on the wrong side. If you like glitter, you can knit all the bobbles with glitter yarn. If you prefer a more traditional look, you can knit the bobbles with your main colour.

Ribbing on hem and cuffs is worked with a smaller needle which makes the sweater sit slightly tighter on your waist. The short sleeves are straight and tighter on cuffs.

Handdyed merino single ply yarn was used for the sample. You can substitute it with another fingering weight yarn. Depending on the look you want to achieve you can use high or low twist, superwash or rustic, semisolids or even variegated yarns. The bobbles can be in the same colour with main colour or different.

Materials
Yarn: Handu Ilun sinkku 100% handdyed merino wool, (365m=100g), 2(3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4) skeins in colourway Totinen ruohonvihreä, total of 730(820, 910, 1040, 1140, 1270, 1380) yards / 670(750, 830, 950, 1040, 1170, 1260) m (MC).
Anchor metallic, 80% viscose 20% metallised polyester (100m=25g), 1 ball, approx. 20 yards/meters, colourway 00322 (CC).

Alternative yarns:
Aara Koko, 50% non-SW merinowool, 50% silk (400g = 100g), colourway Valo.
Other single ply non-superwash merino yarns, metallic yarn.
You can use any yarn, but this will affect your gauge and the amount of yarn needed.

Needles: US #2,5(3,0), circular of 40 and 80 cm and US #1,5(2,5) circular of 40 and 80 cm and dpns.
Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch markers of which one different, stitch holders or waste yarn.

Gauge for stockinette: 24 sts ja 32 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm with #2,5(3,0) needles, blocked.
Gauge for twisted ribbing: 28 sts ja 38 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm with #1,5(2,5) needles, blocked.
Please make a swatch and select a suitable needle size to get the right gauge.

Choose a size which 3-4 inches / 7-10 cm larger than your bust measurement.

Kimalainen-paidan valonpilkahduksena ovat kimaltelevat pompulat kaula-aukon ympärillä. Pompulat reunustavat myös paidan helmaa ja hihansuita. Kimalainen on lyhyt paita, joka sopii käytettäväksi hameiden kanssa tai lämmittävänä kerroksena mekon päällä. Kimalainen-paita on malliltaan yksinkertainen ja pääosin sileää neuletta.

Kimalainen aloitetaan kaula-aukosta ja neulotaan ylhäältä alaspäin. Pyöreässä kaarrokkeessa on lisäykset tasaisesti. Takakappaleelle antavat pituutta lyhennetyt kerrokset, jotka neulotaan juuri ennen kainaloa. Voit helposti sovittaa paitaa keskeneräisenä, jotta saat siitä juuri sopivan kokoisen. Kimaltavat pompulat neulotaan intarsianeuleena, eli pitkiä langanjuoksuja ei neuleessa ole. Jos olet kimalluksen ystävä, voit neuloa vaikka kaikki pompulat kimaltavina. Jos taas haluat paidasta perinteisemmän, neulo pompulat pohjalangalla niin vaikutelma on rauhallisempi.

Helman ja hihansuiden joustin neulotaan pienemmillä puikoilla, jolloin paidasta tulee hieman pallomainen. Lyhyet hihat ovat suorat ja kapenevat joustimen ansiosta pussihihoiksi.

Kimalainen on neulottu käsinvärjätystä merinosinkkulangasta. Paidan ilmettä voi vaihdella korvaamalla langan samanvahvuisella yksivärisellä tai värikkäällä langalla, sileällä tai rouheisemmalla. Pompulat voit sävyttää pohjalangan väriin tai neuloa ne kontrastivärillä.

Materiaalit
Lanka: Handu Ilun sinkku 100% käsinvärjätty merinovilla, (365m=100g), 2(3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4) vyyhtiä, väri Totinen ruohonvihreä, yhteensä 670(750, 830, 950, 1040, 1170, 1260) m (PV).
Anchor metallic, 80% viskoosi 20% metallisoitu polyester (100m=25g), 1 kerä, yhteensä noin 20 m, väri 00322 (KV).

Vaihtoehtoiset langat:
Aara Koko, 50% superwash-käsittelemätön merinovilla, 50% silkki (400g = 100g), väri Valo.
Muut fingering-vahvuiset merinovillalangat, kiiltävät metallilan-gat.
Voit käyttää mitä lankaa haluat, mutta langan vahvuus vaikuttaa neuleen tiheyteen ja tarvittavaan lankamäärään.

Puikot: 3.0 mm pyöröpuikko, pituus 40 ja 80 cm sekä and 2.5 mm pyöröpuikko, pituus 40 and 80 cm, ja sukkapuikot.
Tarvikkeet: Neula, silmukkamerkkejä, joista yksi erilainen, silmukanpidikkeitä tai joutolankaa.

Tiheys sileälle neuleelle: 24 s ja 32 krs = 10x10 cm 3.0 mm puikoilla, kasteltuna ja pingotettuna.
Tiheys joustinneuleelle: 28 s ja 38 krs = 10x10 cm 2.5 mm puikoilla, kasteltuna ja pingotettuna.
Neulo mallitilkku ja valitse sitten työhön puikot, joilla saat oike-an tiheyden.
