Kimansi
For this year’s crochet lesson group, I wanted to create a lace top that would have an easy-to-wear shape, be easy to customise and require minimal to no shaping when working each piece. That’s how I opted for square components. These components can be seamed in various ways and worked in different sizes to create different garment styles.
Kimansi uses Schoppel-Wolle’s Osiris, which is an ideal blend of cotton/nylon/rayon for this type of garment. The yarn has great elasticity and is lightweight; it does not weigh down the lace pattern or the garment. If substituting, look for a yarn with similar fiber content and structure, i.e. not tightly spun.
Kimansi also works well in cotton/wool blend yarns that have a icord/chainette/tape construction. The yarn Lana Grossa Puno Due also makes an excellent choice for this garment.
Instructions are given in written abbreviated form and US crochet terminology. The lace pattern is provided in both charted and written abbreviated form.
Kimansi (κύμανση) is the Greek word for fluctuation.
