Kimber Cowl
A pattern of slipped stitches makes simple cables pop against a colorful background in the Kimber Cowl, creating a fun knitting process and a vibrant result! Part of Marianated Yarns’ 2019 Christmas and Hanukkah kits, the cowl is worked flat from end to end and then joined with sewn-on buttons. The superwash merino yarn base (shown in a brand new colorway, Superfan) is perfect for cozy, close-to-the-neck wear.
This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions. PLEASE PRINT PATTERN IN COLOR.
Recommended Yarn:
Marianated Yarns Jujubee DK Minis, one set — 100% superwash merino — 300 yds (274 m) total per 120 g set. Each individual Jujubee is 50 yds (46 m) per 20 g. Shown in colorway Superfan.
Marianated Yarns Playtime DK, one skein — 100% superwash merino — 274 yds (251 m) per 100 g. Shown in colorway Morning Mist.
Sizing:
8” (20 cm) wide and 55.5” (141 cm) long, before joining.
Gauge:
27 sts and 40 rows to 4” (10 cm) in pattern.
Needles:
US 8 (5 mm) circular needle in 24” (60 cm) length.
PLEASE NOTE: I knit the sample with a US 6 (4 mm) needle, but I knit fairly tightly. To meet given dimensions and ensure enough yarn, use needle size that gives gauge. Changes in gauge will affect finished size, look of motifs, and amount of yarn used.
Other Materials:
Cable needle in appropriate size, five 3/4” (19 mm) buttons, tapestry needle, sewing thread or embroidery floss in same color as MC.
Many thanks to Marian of Marianated Yarns for her support! This pattern was professionally tech edited by Lisa Beth Houchins (Meanest Mommy Knits).
