The Kindred Socks were inspired by this fiber community of ours. Everyday I’m blown away by the beautiful support of each and everyone of you who is dedicated to knit and to keep this ancient art around!
My mother is the one who taught me how to knit and we actually have dyed the yarn for these socks together. I might have been the one who wrote the step by step of the Kindred Socks pattern but there is much more. My tech edit is a wonderful and generous woman who approach me into my designing journey. I am so grateful to have her because my first language is French and sometimes my sentences wouldn’t make any sense without her! Further more, my testers, the women who actually knit up the pattern just to see if everything is in order. This is what I call Kindred. And what would be a sock without the other one!
The Kindred Socks are worked toe-up and are both beautiful and practical. While the cables give them some charm, the reinforced toe and heel will make them last! Knitting toe-up is perfect if you are scared of running out of yarn or if you want to use your full skein. A contrasting colour for toe, heel and cuff is completely optional but it gives you the chance to jump into your stash to spruce up your socks. Now, before you start, I want to warn you, there is a lot of purling involved in theses socks. The reverse stockinette on the soles of your feet is worth the time. When you will step into these socks you will understand!
