CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III COMMEMORATIVE KNITTED DOLL (PATTERN ONLY)

In honour of King Charles III Coronation Year I designed a commemorative knitted doll for the occasion on 6th May 2023.

He stands 15” tall and proud in his military uniform and crown wearing his Coronation Robe.

As a Brit in Canada I wanted some of my own pomp and ceremony ready for the first Coronation of a British monarch since 1953 and the first King’s Coronation since 1937. It’s a special day and needs to be celebrated by all Royalists whether British or not.

I tried to be as detailed as possible on a smalll knitted doll (a feat in itself) without it looking too much. I think I achieved that.

King Charles’s Coronation Robe will, of course, not be revealed until the actual day, but I have used his official cypher for the robe and historically ermine has been used in previous Coronations.

Most of the doll is knit on a small circular needle but also a longer needle using magic loop or DPN’s can be used.

Some of the accessories are knit flat and the cross on the top of the crown is a simple chain stitch in crochet.

A simple satin stitch and a french knot are used with embroidery thread for the decorations.

A twisted cord is used in a couple of the decorations. You Tube is a good souirce for a visual.
