Kingsroad Socks
These socks were inspired by one of my favorite tv shows, Game of Thrones! Specifically by the main road that the characters travel down towards the capital city that has castles and mansions! I wanted to design a comfy pair of socks that featured some easy cable techniques and some texture! These socks will make the perfect pair of lazy day house socks!
This beginner- intermediate sock pattern is knit from the cuff down, with a heel flap and gusset.
Finished Measurements:
S(M,L,XL) - 8.5”(9.5”,10.5”,11.5”) circumference. When measuring foot, make sure to measure at the widest part of your foot to ensure proper fit! If you prefer to have a very snug fitting sock, you can size down if you are in between sizes!
Suggested Yarn:
DK or light worsted weight yarn of your choice (to match gauge). For long term wear, it is best to choose a yarn blend with nylon in it for strength!
200-230 yards (180-210 meters) of DK weight yarn depending on the size you will knit.
Suggested Needles:
US 3 (3.25mm) 32” (for magic loop method) or US 3 (3.25mm) DPNs
Notions:
4 stitch markers, weaving needle, scissors.
Optional : cable needle * I highly suggest watching a tutorial on how to knit small cables without a cable needle. This will speed up the cable process! * Here is a link to a good YouTube tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2caLM3DHcU
Techniques featured:
knit stitches, purl stitches, 1x1 stitch cables, heel flap and gusset, kitchener stitch for toe, cuff down sock knitting.
