This pattern consists of written instructions and a free online calculator, which are used together to create a simple beanie, customized to your chosen yarn, needles and wearer’s head size…to help avoid those beanie fitting disasters.

The written instructions can be downloaded here or from the linked kinikiknits website. Then type in your wearer’s measurement and gauge into the calculator that can be found on the resources page of the kinikiknits website to get your customised instructions.

The beanie is worked in the round with stockinette stitch. It has a ribbed band and four lines of decreases towards the crown. It has a simple, classic shape with two options – either a watchman’s cap style that is higher on the ears (blue example) or one that sits lower on the ears (green example).

The yardage is indicative only and is based on DK/8 ply yarn like those in the images. Needle sizes are also indicative - choose that needle appropriate for working stockinette in your chosen yarn plus one needle size down for working the ribbed band.
