Some of my favourite designers and makers are from Asian cultures. In particular, I find myself in awe of the Japanese style influence on knitting, sewing, fashion, and fabric patterns. I’ve recently become enamoured by quilted fabrics and have incorporated those techniques into the few sewing projects I dabble with. It felt only natural to try to do the same in my knits.

Although it took a few tries to get the puffed diamonds just right, I’m in love with the simple illusion of hand knitting a “quilted” sweater without actually quilting at all. As much as I would love to seam a bunch of tiny diamonds together, this was a much more enjoyable way to achieve a similar effect.

There are 9 sizes included in the pattern.
XS (S, M, L, XL) {2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL}
Bust circumference: 41.25 (48, 51.25, 54.75, 61.5) {64.75, 68.25, 71.5, 75}“ / 105 (122, 130, 139, 156) {164.5, 173.5, 181.5, 190.5} cm

11.25” - 17.5” / 28.5 cm - 44.5 cm positive ease in the bust circumference intended

Note that sizes XL, 4XL & 5XL were not test knitted.

Vegan Yarn - Taika, “Cedar”

⇾ 992 (1,115, 1,198, 1,476, 1,624) {1,703, 1,886, 2,111, 2,309} yds / 907 (1,020, 1,095, 1,350, 1,485) {1,557, 1,725, 1,930, 2,111} m aran weight chainette yarn

The sample uses a chainette, plant fibre yarn. If using a denser yarn, opt for something closer to worsted weight. Swatching is highly recommended if using an alternative.

Please be advised that yarn requirements and finished size measurements are approximate. Actual values may vary based on garment size, yarn, needle size, and gauge.

Model is a size 32” bust, wearing the size S.
