About this design
The KISS Beanie is all about versatility, whilst also Keeping It Super Simple:

  • The stitch pattern has just 2 stitches and 2 rows and so is super simple to memorise,

  • The stitch pattern is completely different on both sides so if you need to, you can simply change up your look from a rib with a difference to nubbly texture by just turning your beanie inside out, and

  • The simple silhouette means you can wear your beanie with a deep, warm fold-up brim or as a stylish slouchy.

The size range means that the beanie will fit children to adult sizes so why not Keep It Super Simple and knit one for every member of the family?

Tension
20 stitches x 32 rows over 10 cm/4 ins in Sand Stitch, knitted in the round using 4.00 mm (US size 6, UK size 8) circular needles and wet blocked. A close match for tension is important for this pattern in order to ensure a good fit. Please note that blocking is important for determining your tension gauge as this stitch pattern relaxes quite a bit once it is blocked. Please move up or down a needle size and swatch one more time if your gauge does not match. Also, you may find that you use more or less yarn if your gauge is significantly different.

Needles
4.00 mm (US size 6, UK size 8) double pointed needles
3.25 mm (US size 3, UK size 10) double pointed needles

If you prefer to work with circular needles then you can use either a 40 cm/6 ins circular needle or two 61 cm/24 ins circular needles for the main part of the beanie. You will still need to use double pointed needles to work the crown.

Notions
Tapestry/darning needle.
Four removable stitch markers, one a different colour to show the beginning of the round.
