Red is one of the most vibrant colours and has the power to make us feel something when we see it and to feel fabulous when we wear it.

Red is….
…..the colour of love and romance and red roses.
…..the colour of our life’s blood.
……the colour of courage and bravery in poppies.
……the colour of victory in a first place ribbon.

Bring a little red into your day if for no other reason than sometimes a girl just has to wear red!

The cowl is simple to knit because they aren’t really cables, they are mock cables and much simpler to make. As you knit you hold two strands of yarn (easy) for an extra warm and snuggly thick finish to the stitches. With simple decreases you taper off to a closer fitting (but stretchy) neck edge for pulling up on chilly winter days. If you prefer to work with one strand, the pattern includes the blue version made with one strand of Berroco Peruvia Quick.

The pattern is straight forward and knits up quickly with simple repeats that are easy to remember and relaxing to do.

Men love red too and will appreciate the colour of love you put into this, and of course the warmth!

All colours will look great in this stitch. Also gradients, tweeds, ombres……….

The pattern includes directions for both.
Measurements for both are 20 “ at neck opening ( stretchy for ease)
23” centre width and a bottom edge of 34” diameter.
Height is 12”.

Measurements are approx. and will depend on your yarn choices and gauge.

The red sample has 3 1/2 stitches per inch measured in the the flat part of the cable and the blue has 3 stitches per inch in the flat part of the cable. Gauge is not critical though.

Pattern calls for 2 Skeins of Berroco Vintage #35154 Crimson
OR,
2 Skeins of Berroco Peruvian Quick. #9143 Blue/Green
