KISS Mitts
9 possible combinations!
Somewhere out there is the perfect cheesy line about knitting these mitts being fate (Kismet/KISS Mitts, geddit?). Good thing I don’t do stand-up.
These fab aran-weight mitts will be ready to keep your handies toasty only a short while after you cast on. Starting at the fingertips, work your way down past the thumbholes and keep going for as long as you like. The pattern gives you 3 options for the fingers: whole, flip-top or fingerless, and another 3 options for the thumb: whole, pull-down or thumbless. You can mix and match the options to make your perfect mitt.
K.I.S.S. stands for “Keep It Stocking Stitch”, it uses plain knitting wherever it can, with other stitches used only when absolutely necessary, e.g. ribbing at the cuffs. This pattern is the first in a series of plain patterns. This is not to say that K.I.S.S. patterns are boringly simplistic! There will be new tricks and techniques to try out. For starters, I hope you find the architecture of the thumbs in these mitts of interest.
K.I.S.S. patterns are ideal for one-off art yarns. I have teamed up with artisan dyer Karen Russell of Shamu Makes to bring you these patterns in her unique yarns and colour ways.

Pattern Notes
If you are making long mitts that use up an entire skein of yarn, reserve half the yarn for the second mitt. Also leave enough yarn for the cuff, thumb and flap (flip-top mitts).
The cuff and thumb for one mitt use up approx 10g/18yds/17m.
Each flap for the flip-top mitts uses up approx 4g/7.5yds/7m.
Instructions for the upper flap of the flip-top option follow under Finishing
