Kita's Cupcake Hat
This pattern will cover the icing top and wrapper rim with additional notes on making sprinkles and a cherry if you want to add them. Keep in mind that you can get creative and make mint chocolate cupcakes with silver foil wrappers if you are so inclined. I used very visible colors for example but you can go in a lot of different directions.
No gauge given; the stitches used are highly flexible so there is a lot of leeway in your tension style. Sitck to the weight category for best results! The formula for the icing part took the most work, spacing the stitches in spaces or above previous stitches to allow for maximum coverage and design.
You will want to work with hooks in the G - J range, larger hooks may make for larger hats if using the same tension. Have at least two skeins in two colors for the wrapper and the icing. Lion Brand bonbons work well for sprinkles but I actually prefer using bulky yarns for those. Pompom makers will make the cherry easier to make. Other than that, finishing and tapestry needles make the project a lot smoother too.
I will be updating this pattern sporadically to maybe include more photos or other icing techniques. There are some novelty yarns that look like they can make amazing variations too. As is, this pattern does include enough information to give you a complete hat in a large range of sizes and a few extras. Please email kitacat@me.com with your Ravelry name if you have purchased this pattern and still have additional questions. I do not check Ravelry very often but I do want buyers to be able to have their questions answered promptly if they are unclear or stuck. This will help me modify the pattern for other buyers as needed!
