Kitty Cat
Hello, I’m Kitty Cat, your mascot (or masCat, maybe?), playtime friend or just a listening companion for people of all ages. I am knit in the round - no seaming at all - and you can use almost any type of yarn you like to make me.
Materials:
- 100 g DK weight yarn or 100 g fingering weight combined with lace weight yarn, or similar. You can also use lighter or heavier yarns, just remember that it will impact the size of the cat and the amount of yarn needed, needle size, the amount of stuffing and the size of the eyes, as well as potentially the size of the joints.
- 3 mm sock needles, or the size needles needed for the thickness of yarn of choice.
- 1 progress keeper
- 1 stitch marker
- 4 sets of joints (male + female x4)
- Darning needle + needle with a smaller eye, for sewing the eyes in place.
- Stuffing (a 250 g bag will be enough for several animals).
- Small amount (>5 grams) of black (or color of choice) yarn for the nose
- Small amount (>5 grams) of yarn for the inside of the ears
- 2 pieces of 18 mm eyes
You can also use up different scraps of yarn combined with a lace weight mohair, as I did for the multicolored cat in this pattern. I weighed up 80 grams of my smallest scrap yarns and combined them with two skeins of light grey Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk. I had about five scraps of yarn that I never used, and I used less than half of the second ball of Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk. So, if you make two cats, you will need less than 150 grams of fingering weight yarn plus three balls of the Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk. It is a great stash buster for those tiny scraps!
