Kiwi Bird and Chick
Make your own Kiwi bird and chick! The flightless, nocturnal Kiwi are among the best known of New Zealand’s curious fauna. The five species of Kiwi are found only in New Zealand. They use their highly developed sense of smell to search the underbrush for small invertebrates and seeds.
The 31 page pattern includes detailed step-by-step photos and clear written instructions to make an amigurumi-style Kiwi bird and a palm-sized Kiwi chick. PLUS there is an 11 page printer-friendly TEXT ONLY version at the end of the pattern. This pattern has been fully tested by multiple testers. Includes yarn amounts and hook sizes to make an adult Kiwi and chick using worsted weight yarn.
Recommended for INTERMEDIATE SKILL LEVEL. This pattern uses basic crochet stitches and more complex stitches (detailed in the pattern glossary).
A finished adult Kiwi made using Worsted Weight yarn is approximately 12” long from beak to rump, 8.5” tall from head to foot, and 6.5” wide across the hips. A chick is approximately 6.5” long from beak to rump, 5” tall from head to foot, and 4” wide across the hips.
