KIWI
Kiwi is a square blanket with a lace paw pattern. Thanks to being knit in the round, it knits up very quickly and can be a good introduction to lace knitting. It starts from the centre and is knit outwards in circles. It has four identical triangular sections with spines in between them. Each spine has one knit stitch in the centre and is surrounded by yarn-overs. Make the blanket as large as you want it by making more repeats. The edge is made up by several little paws patterns to make a pretty lace border.

The blanket works with pretty much any yarn, and gauge is irrelevant. However, to calculate the amount of yarn, remember that the further out you get, the more yarn each round will need. The prototype blanket measures 70x70 cm and uses 200 g of yarn. Use a needle in a size larger than recommended for the yarn to get a fluffy blanket.

Kiwi is named after the original recipient, the British shorthair kitten Applecat Kiwi In Love, who got it as a moving home blanket in February 2015.

ULLCENTRUM
The Swedish company Ullcentrum was established in 1998. It takes care of and produces yarn from Swedish wool that would otherwise be thrown away. The yarn is made from different Swedish sheep breeds, such as the Gotland sheep. The yarn comes in both natural shades and dyed colors. It is also available in several different weights, both spun and unspun and in 1-, 2- and 3-ply. The blanket in the photos is knit from 2-ply yarn held double.

GENERAL INFO
This blanket is knit seamlessly in the round. Pattern and increases are worked from chart. Put a marker at the beginning of the round to know when you’ve completed a round. When one skein ends, don’t tie the new skein on – join ends by felting them together. This will give you fewer ends to weave in, plus a nicer looking blanket.

MATERIAL
Ullcentrum 2-ply, held double. Shown in color 6/2-3113 grass green on medium grey. The amount depends on your size. For a baby blanket, expect 200-300 g. For a large blanket, you might need up to 1000 g.

Double-pointed needles & circular needle, all in the same size. Tapestry needle for weaving in ends. For the recommended yarn, use size 6 mm needles.
