Kjunika1
Pattern in danish and english version
- sept. starter vi Samstrik omkring kjolen på Facebook 1st of September there is a KAL where we knit this Kjunika: link text
Rundpinde i forskellig længder fx str.
Kjunika1 can be knitted as a dress or a tunic. In Danish, Kjole means dress and Tunika means tunic - this can be either or both! This pattern is knitted in the round from the top down in one piece from start to finish. The back neck is raised by making short rows to improve fit.
It is fast to knit and there are only a few ends to weave in when you have finished knitting.
At the beginning, you knit a seamless round yoke, then there will be few raglan increases. You can give the sleeve a fine little detail by making a cuff with 3 buttonholes.
Gauge: 16 sts and 24 rows over 4 inches in stockinette st. on 5 mm (US 8) circular knitting needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. Use a needle one size smaller for the neck and bottom borders. The row gauge is not that important here, since you knit to needed length in cm/inch.
Yarn: You can knit this in wool, or a wool blend for winter. Knit it in cotton, linen or silk for the summer. For the green dress wool is used together with silk mohair, which results in a very light dress to wear. The other one is made in a tweed yarn “Donegal raw” which gives it a more natural/earthy look and more like a sweater/tunic.
The advantage of knitting top down is that the sweater can be tried on along the way and the bust circumference can be adjusted with fewer or more increases at the raglan lines or by the number of sts CO under the arms.
Finished measurement for 8 sizes from XS – XXL Bust approx. 80 – 125 cm (32”- 50”)
