I love the look of embroidery, but I don’t have the patience for it. These mitts feature a few rows of knitted knots, that give the look of embroidered stitches. The pattern is easy and gives you the effect of needlework, without the risk of stabbing yourself with a sharp embroidery needle. The knots look particularly nice when made in variegated yarn.
The mitts also have a pretty folded picot hem at the top and bottom. The thumb is finished with rib.
Pattern is written for three sizes (S, M, L) to suit 18, 19 and 20 cm (7, 7.5 and 8 inches) hand and is easily adjustable, if you want to make a different size. As written the mitts are quite snug. If you want the mitts to be slouchy, go up one size.
Supplies:
100 to 120 m (110 to 130 yards) dk/worsted weight yarn for your main colour (MC).
You will also need small amounts of contrast yarn. Choose a colour that will pop against your MC. You’ll need about 5g of dk/worsted weight yarn for the knots. You can use one yarn, or scraps of different colours. You can also use fingering weight yarn (held double) as I did in the samples. I used 10g.

3.75 mm (US 5) circular (or appropriate needle size to get the desired gauge).
Sewing up needle and waste yarn.
2 stitch markers that are distinct from each other.
