This pattern uses both knitting and crochet techniques. The only crochet you need to know for this is slip stitch and single crochet, which is for the basket base and handle.

I listed Aunt Lydia’s crochet thread for the “WIP” inside the basket; you could use sock yarn or embroidery floss instead, just make sure it is thin because the stitches are going to have to go onto a toothpick.
