Update update: I’ve made it available here for free! I especially hope that beginners get some use out of it.

Update: the final perfected version is up!

Here’s my first original knit design, a cute little basketweave pouch! I wanted to play around with and showcase basic knit-purl stitch patterns. The top of the pouch is knit in moss stitch, and the body features a wide band of basketweave stitch.

It’s perfect for scrap-busting and gifting. You can knit it in any combination of two colours (the pattern is written for two colours as shown), one colour; ribbon drawstring, crochet chain…- the possibilities are endless!

Incidentally, it’s also perfect on my chatelaine.

Great for advanced beginners and above.

Gauge is not critical, I suggest using anywhere from 4mm-5mm needles, or a US size 6-8, and DK to worsted weight yarn.

Of course, you can also knit it with different yarn weights and appropriate needle sizes for differently sized pouches, in the spirit of scrapbusting.

Requires about half of a 50g skein of DK weight yarn per colour, slightly under one 50g skein in total.
