This beret is a simple beret shape and pattern but with the addition of stockinette ruching stitch added. This ruching stitich is easily done by increasing the stitches on the needle, working in stockinette for a few rows and then decreasing stitches back to the original number. The beret pattern fits the average size adult head. I used Cascade BFL Dk weight yarn which knits up quite nicely and blocks providing a lovely fit and halo. I used one skein of the Cascade BFL. Also, this pattern is part of a collection of hat patterns designed by the Block Island Knitwear Collective. When you buy the book of patterns all proceeds go to the Block Island Nature Conservancy.
