Create your own colour scheme. Good contrast between the main and contrasting colour is crucial to show off the motif. Use one or more colours for the background. Yarn weight is not important for this project.

The square is worked in one piece in a mosaic garter stitch. Mosaic knitting is a fun and easy way of knitting with two colours to create a colour-work pattern which looks much more complicated than it is. The beauty of mosaic knitting is that it only uses one of the yarns at a time, while the other waits at the beginning of the round. All you need to know is how to knit and slip stitches and follow a colour-work chart or written instructions to create an intricate pattern. There are ZERO purl stitches needed.
