Knit-in-the-Dark Dishcloth Shawl
Yes, it’s simple. So simple that it can be knit in the dark.
I’ve knit many of these over the years. They’re dull, which is absolutely soothing when the rest of your life is suffering from an excess of non-dullness. They’re warm if you knit them from thick yarn. They’re also a great stashbuster if you have a medium-ish (or larger) batch of yarn you’d like to Do Something with.
It’s not an original idea, of course. It’s a very, very old concept. It is based on the classic garter-stitch dishcloth, except that one never decreases the triangle back down into a square (if you do, and you certainly can, you’ll end up with a very nice square shawl).
This shawl can be knit from just about any yarn, in any gauge, to any size. Whatever you end up with will be fabulous.
I’m adding this to Ravelry’s database partly to link it to the many shawls I’ve knitted using this pattern.
