The Knit One Purl One Hat is knitted in the round using a K1, P1 rib, with short row shaping at the cast-on to create a scalloped edge. It’s a great stash buster for any leftover Aran weight yarn you might have.

SIZES
S (M, L)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
15.75 (17.5, 19.25) inches / 40 (44, 49) cm stretching to fit head sizes 20-21 (21.5-22.5, 23-24) inches / 51-54 (55-58, 59-62) cm

GAUGE
Approximately 18 stitches and 20 rows to 4 inches / 10 cm in K1, P1 rib (blocked and un-stretched). Getting the row gauge right is less important as the hat can be knit to the length you would like.

YARN
Aran weight yarn of 140m/100g, about 90 (110, 140) meters in total

The sample version is knitted in New Mills Farm Pure Devon Wool in Misty Morning.

Alternative yarns suggested: Ficolana Peruvian Highland Wool combined with Ficolana Tilia, Drops Nepal combined with Drops Kid Silk, Sirdar Hayfield Bonus Aran with Wool, or any Aran weight yarn you have in your stash!

NEEDLES
5mm circular needles on a 40-50cm cable (or another size needle to get the gauge)

For the decrease section, you will need one 5mm cable needle and you may want to use DPN’s or the magic loop technique.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, one stitch marker, tape measure
