This is a fun and easy home decor pattern to knit. I designed this towel to use as a drying mat-towel on my counter and used yarns that would go with my kitchen countertops. I had enough leftover yarn to also design a matching dishcloth. The towel features a lace edge stitch in a variegated color yarn and the solid colors of the towel are knit in a ridged rib stitch. The dishcloth is just knit in the ridged rib stitch.

The yarn used in this project is Lily Sugar’n Cream Cotton or any 100 percent cotton yarn will work for both the towel and the dishcloth. Instructions are given in detail for both projects with the color changes or you could even make it in all one color. You will need 2 full skeins of solid colors, and half a skein of another solid color and a very small amount (I used a leftover scrap from another dishcloth project) in a variegated color. The needle size used is a US 6 circular or straight, your choice.

This project is suitable for an advanced beginner and you will need to know how to knit, purl, yarn over, slip stitch, pass a slip stitch over, and purl 2 stitches together.

This project is a quick and easy project to work on while watching TV or waiting for your kids in a carpool line at school. It can easily be knit in a day or two and would make a great gift.
