KNITOVATIVE - is a play off the word innovative. Designers are knitting inventors. I designed this project back in 2017. It has been sitting on my desk collecting dust waiting for the perfect yarn to make it shine and here it is in all its glory. Technology has come a long way in the fiber industry. This is just another example of what can be made with an innovative pattern plus techy yarn. So what is it you ask? Is it a dress, vest, crop top, pullover, tunic, slipover, caplet, poncho, swoncho, sweater, layering piece? It can be any of these things. Whatever you need it to be in your wardrobe. I have knit 4 of them plus my dress and I wear them with everything.
This is a unisex, seamless, top down, all-in one-piece construction garment. Very beginner friendly. Basically, you cast on, knit, cast off and you are done. It is that easy. This pattern/recipe is very easy to follow and can be modified for the perfect fit. If I am being honest, you can knit one using any yarn weight. I prefer dk, worsted, or chunky at a loose gauge to get the stretch and drape. You can knit one for anyone, any size, any yarn, any gauge, any length. You are the boss of your knitting. It is a blank canvas. Be creative and have fun with it.

STATS - this is a unisex sleeveless top, pullover, slipover, vest, poncho, swoncho, whatever you want to call it that can be knit in any size, any yarn and gauge. A great layering piece to add to your wardrobe for those days when you just don’t know what to wear because the weather is up and down. Wear it by itself or over a short or long sleeved t-shirt. Dress it up and wear it over a blouse or another sweater. Wear it over a dress, with skirts, pants, jeans, or leggings. It’s a fun, easy, quick knit. It is knit seamless from the top down, all-in one-piece construction. It is basically a pattern/recipe and blank canvas for you to have fun with and do your own thing. Try different yarns; solids, tonal, self striping, gradients, hand dyed, marled, etc. Next, you can add some textures, lace, colorwork, intarsia, mosaic, duplicate stitch, embroidery, or after thought pockets etc. The sky is the limit. I find this garment so addicting. Knit it cropped, regular length, tunic length, or dress length. I bet you can’t just make one especially with this new Wool Ease Fair Isle yarn in so many different colorways. Beginner friendly and great for gift giving as well.

NOTE- If you plan to do one in the new Wool Ease Fair Isle yarn, you might need a bit more yardage because you have to start and stop your knitting to match up the color and lovely pattern design to the point in which you will have to cut out a section or two of yarn for it to be perfect. Not to worry though, the leftovers can be used up in a yoke of a sweater, for a hat, scarf or mitts etc…The Wool Ease contrasting colors match perfectly with this new yarn which is great for the hems or for the main color of your project.

HELPFUL - the photo you see with the leftover bits was all I had leftover from the 3 balls of yarn to make my dress. I am 5’ 4” tall, 34” bust, weighing 120 pounds. The main color I used for the dress part was Charcoal/Medium Grey and Flint for the hem. Happy Knitting!

ATTENTION - I will be attending the New York Sheep & Wool Festival, better known as the Rhinebeck Fiber Festival in New York on October 21st and 22nd 2023.
