KnitsThatFit Sweaters
This is an app available as a download from the App Store or from Google Play. The app creates complete written knitting instructions, as well as a labelled schematic diagram, for the garments you choose to make.
The Knitting Patterns can be saved as PDF and opened in other applications such as iBooks, KnitCompanion, Evernote, etc.
The patterns can be created for any yarn and for any measurements.
The patterns are for knitted pullovers, cardigans and jackets. Cardigans and jackets patterns can have button fastening or zip fastening.
Instructions can be generated for flat knitting / bottom up or in the round / top down.
There are five choices of fit that the user can select: very close close fitting, standard fitting, loose fitting, and oversized. Each ‘fit’ has a default amount of ease that can be adjusted / customised for each pattern.
A very wide range of standard sizes can be chosen, for women, men, babies and children. The settings for the standard sizes can be individually adjusted, or if preferred custom measurements can be entered separately.
The very close fitting and close fitting options have waist shaping.
The oversized option has drop shoulder sleeves, the other fits have a choice of raglan, set-in or drop shoulder sleeves.
There are neckline options; crew / round / scoop, v-neck, funnel neck (turtle neck), roll-neck and flat collar. The width and front neck depth are specified by the user.
The app is customised by the user for the gauge of the yarn.
There are also stitch options including stocking stitch, single rib, double rib, garter stitch and moss stitch. Any other stitch pattern can also be used, including pattern repeats and centre panels on the body and sleeves (specified by the user).
The app can be used to create unlimited sweater, cardigan and jacket patterns, and the patterns are stored in a list.
The user can choose to create the pattern in metric or imperial units, and also choose the needle size system that they want to use.
