Many thanks to Carol Walsh for creating this pattern for knitted cave nests and making the first one to ensure it would work :) I have had many knitters attempt to create one without success. I am so happy to be able to share this with all of our knitters who have been patiently waiting for it.

I don’t use a circular needle for this pattern. I use 7 inch double edged needles.
Since the needles are short, I use 7 needles (6 have stitches and 1 to work with).
If you use a circular needle, it would be for only part of the nest.
