Width of edging:

Size 10 thread, size 1 needles = 2 3/4”
Size 20 thread, size 0 needles = 2 1/2”
Size 30 thread, size 0 needles = 2 1/4”

Pattern is worked sideways.

100 Useful Edgings (1939) gives no needle sizes or gauge, but suggests the needle and thread size be chosen based on how it will be used.

Both are the same pattern, however Edgings: A Collector’s Book has rewritten it with more modern terminology.
