Knitted Plait (braid)
I wrote this pattern because although I knew how to add a cable or plait (braid) as a detail within a garment, I couldn’t find reference for knitting one on its own like this. The sizes I have recommended will result in the products shown but it was my intention that this be a technique rather than a finished pattern that you can use scaled up or down to make bracelets, headbands, cowls or scarfs to your own design. Use whatever yarn you have in your stash and experiment with the size of the needles. Have fun!
GAUGE Doesn’t really matter!
Using 8mm (US11) needles will result in a tight Plait.
Greater than 8mm will produce a larger, looser Plait.
