Knitted rabbits
This pattern is one of my most favorite patterns to make, and it can be varied as much as you feel like. Don’t have sport weight yarn? No problem! Use what you got, just make sure you pick the right needle size for the yarn - if your needles are too small for the yarn, the fabric will be too stiff to work with, and if they are too big for the yarn, your bunny will be dropping stuffing all over. So check the ball band for needle size, and adjust if your tension is tighter or loser.
Also note that a heavier yarn and bigger needles will require more stuffing.
This pattern requires the following materials:
- Östergötlands Visjögarn or Rauma Finull for the head, body, ears, arms and legs. Approx. 23g needed for one rabbit. You can also use any other yarn with corresponding knitting needles, they will just come out a different size rabbit. If using heavier yarns, you might want to use larger half beads for eyes, as the head will be larger. Also add on to the length of the wire, if making a larger rabbit, or omit wires all together.
-
Contrasting color yarn for inside of ears, tail and embroidering the nose.
-
Two black flatback half beads, size 6mm.
-
Four double eyelash extensions, small.
-
Fishing line.
-
Thick, bendable wire (optional).
-
Stuffing.
-
Glue gun.
-
Glue for fastening eyes (you can also use your glue gun).
-
Electrical tape (optional, depending on whether you choose to use the wire inside the rabbit).
-
Fork, tweezers, cutting pliers and needle nose pliers for the wire.
Happy making!
