Knitted slacks for 18-inch doll
These pants are snug enough at the waist to fit my Madame Alexander doll but generous enough in the butt to fit my Springfield doll, who is about 2 inches bigger in the hips. I have a JLY American Girl doll, and they fit her, too.
Red Heart Designer Sport has been discontinued, but you may have some in your stash. I am hoping you can use most any sport-weight yarn, although it seems as though sport-weight yarns vary widely. You may also want to try a DK yarn.
I am guessing these slacks used about 1/4 of the skein I had, but I really don’t know.
The listed gauge is 6 stitches per inch for size 2 needles in stockinette. This is for the waist. The gauge at the hips is 5 stitches to the inch. Almost all the shaping is done by changing needle size in these pants, but the most crucial gauge is probably the one at the waist.
