Knitted Solar System
It has been a dream of mine to create this Knitted Solar System for a very long time. As a super fan of Science Fiction stories of humanity exploring the cosmos and living on distant or nearby planets, I have always been in awe of the planets in our solar system.
Pattern Information
This pattern set contains 10 patterns in PDF format to make all 9 planets, one planetoid and our star, the sun. This pattern comes in written and chart instructions in English, so you can choose which version you want to follow.
I have written this pattern so that anyone who hasn’t tackled knitting in the round will feel confident in creating your own solar system. I created YouTube videos to help you create my world pattern which can be used to help you knit your own planets: https://youtu.be/c18hEXadnWE
Yarn
As the planets need only a small amount of yarn, use leftover Double Knitting yarn from your stash but make sure to check your tension. Use smaller needles if your tension square comes out too big.
All yarn weights are approximate, please allow a little extra so you don’t run out.
I’ve noted the colour of the yarn needed for each planet in brackets beside the shade name as it can be unclear from the name given by the yarn company.

NOTE: If you use this yarn, only use the lengths of yarn with solid colour and cut out the sections of the yarn that are speckled as this spoils the ring effect. Or alternatively look for a yarn that has only blue stripes.

Needles
3mm, 9 double pointed needles.
You will need to use just 5 double pointed needles for each planet.
Then, to make the rings of Saturn you will need 9 double pointed needles.

Fibrefill Toy Stuffing
